Kingston Health Students support the Global #ClimateStrike

Young people around the world are striking for climate action and health students and professionals can offer support by showing up in full force.

HEART and the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment (CAPE) are supporting the work of Fridays for Future by mobilizing health students and health professionals in Canada to come out and support the students.

If you have a work uniform that identifies you as a health professional, such as scrubs or a lab coat, please wear this to the #ClimateStrike. This will offer a powerful visual that health professionals are standing with students. We also encourage you to make signs showing the health impacts of climate change.

Children and students have shown incredible leadership at these actions and it's important that health professionals attending the actions are supportive without taking centre stage. The Health Host of this action has already reached out to let the students know that health professionals are coming. The global climate strike page also has some great tips about supporting students in a way that doesn't take over their event. You can find those here:

If you can't leave work to attend a rally, there is still a lot you can do to support the student strikes. Learn about actions you can take at work here.
