Vancouver Health Workers support the Global #ClimateStrike

Students around the world are striking for climate action and health professionals can offer support by showing up in full force. Canadian actions are following the lead of Quebec student strikers and striking on the 27th

The Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment (CAPE) is supporting the work of Fridays for Future by mobilizing health professionals in Canada to come out and support the students.

If you have a work uniform that identifies you as a health professional, such as scrubs or a lab coat, please wear this to the #ClimateStrike. This will offer a powerful visual that health professionals are standing with students. We also encourage you to make signs showing the health impacts of climate change.

Children and students have shown incredible leadership at these actions and it's important that health professionals attending the actions are supportive without taking centre stage. The Health Host of this action has already reached out to let the students know that health professionals are coming. The global climate strike page also has some great tips about supporting students in a way that doesn't take over their event. You can find those here:

You can find the Doctor and Medical Student specific facebook event page here: Doctors for Future

You can find general information from the students organizing the Vancouver Climate Strike here: Global Climate Strike Vancouver

You can also find more suggestions from CAPE here:

If you can't leave work to attend a rally, there is still a lot you can do to support the student strikes. Learn about actions you can take at work here.
